The rainbow is perhaps the most beautiful sight in nature. Actually, it is just the sunlight spread into seven colors. After it has poured for sometime on a summer day, the sun shines and this is when the water droplets still present in the earth’s atmosphere combine with sunlight to ‘gift’ us the rainbow. Though we see the rainbow as an arch from the ground, if seen from a plane it can be seen as a full circle. The arch of the rainbow is distributed into seven beautiful colors. For example, R – Red, O – Orange, etc. There is another way to remember the colors of the rainbow and that is by remembering the word VIBGYOR. Red

As we already know, red primarily represents aggression. It also indicates passion and determination. It is a primary color and it is the least deflected color in the spectrum and has the longest wavelength. It is amazing how the same color that depicts danger is also a symbol of love!

Orange

It’s the only color that is named after the fruit orange. It is obtained by combining red and yellow. Although it contains the color red and symbolizes fire, excitement and energy, it is also the color of wisdom and fruitfulness. It is a more controlled and elegant color than red.

Yellow

The color yellow represents happiness and joy. It is a primary color and is close to the color of the sun. Usage of this color in different forms can make a person more capable of making correct decisions and become more positive. But dark yellow has some negative virtues attached to it.

Green has been known to indicate peace and pleasantness but it also represents growth, harmony and freshness. It is the combination of blue and yellow and lies in the middle of the rainbow. The color is extremely soothing to the eyes.

Blue

Blue is one of the three primary colors. It is considered to have almost as much impact as red. Blue is also the color of the sea and the sky and stands for peace and calmness. Using this color can make a person more understanding and relaxed.

Indigo

Indigo is a color that stands for trust, dignity, wisdom, integrity and self-mastery. It is also known to represent the bridging of the finite and infinite. It is a subtle color that is not very intense. The color is often thought of in connection with spirituality and psychic powers.

Violet

Violet is the color that appears on the opposite end of red on the rainbow. It is obtained by combining red and blue. So it possesses the combination of the natures of these two colors. But you will hardly find this color in nature.
